Myth:

Scientists are propagating the notions of climate change and global warming just to make money and become famous.

Fact:

This myth is simply ridiculous. If anyone could prove definitively that global warming was not happening or was not a problem, he or she would become the most famous and decorated scientist since Einstein. Scientists become famous by overturning paradigms, not by reinforcing them. Besides, if you want to make a lot of money, you don’t go into science as a profession; you go into business.

Albert Einstein, the most famous scientist of the 20th century. When he died in 1955, his net worth was $65,000 – about $850,000 in today’s money. He was definitely not a wealthy man. [Source: Wikimedia Commons]
